Like I was saying the shot didn't really work so great, or at least it wasn't very original. Anyway back to the story. So in 2000 they attached cables to the structure and then drilled bore holes under one side of the tower so as to reduce the lean. The lean was at 11° and increasing - any more lean and it would have toppled...
