Directly in front of Theatinerkirche is Feldherrnhalle in Odeonsplatz completed in 1844. Now Munich is a great city, but it has quite a dark past. Munich is for all intents and purposes the birthplace of the Nazi party. It was here on November 9th 1923 that a march of some 2000 people acting on Hitler's orders were stopped by police, 4 were shot and Hiltler who fled was later arrested and imprisoned. The event would become known as the Beer-Hall Putsch.
